نقلا عن مقال بعنوان ـ( وأنا أغتنمها )ـ , والذي نشرته مجلّة الشّهاب في جُزئها الثالث من المجلّد الخامس عشر , الصّادر في غُرّة ربيع الأوّل 1358 هجريّة الموافق ل 21 أبريل 1939 للميلاد :
<< سار عُقبة في جيشه في المغرب الوسط وكانت له فيه حُروب , إذ لم تكن غزوة أبي المُهاجر إلاّ تمهيدا للفتح , ثمّ توجّه إلى المغرب الأقصى حتّى انتهى إلى المُحيط الأطلانطيقي , ولم يكن هذا الفتح السّريع المُدهش قد استأصل قُوّة جُموع الوطن أيضا , ففي عودة عُقبة إلى القيروان من هذا الفتح هبطت إليه كاهنة جبل أوراس في جُموع كثيرة وهو في قلّة من أصحابه فكانت الوقعة الكُبرى التي استُشهد فيها عُقبة وصحبه >> .
